Public interest is at the centre of decisions. The Impact Assessment Report and Crown consultation outcomes inform the Minister or GIC determination on whether a project’s adverse effects within federal jurisdiction, and the adverse direct or incidental effects, are in the public interest. If yes, the Minister must establish conditions. Decision Statements include enforceable conditions and reasons for the determination, providing transparency and accountability.
