Phase 3 – Impact Assessment by the Agency (1 of 2)

Impact assessments are conducted either by the Agency or by a review panel. This course has primarily focused on assessments by the Agency where the Agency leads the assessment and engagement process and works collaboratively with other jurisdictions and federal authorities. Impact assessments by review panel follow a similar process, but the review panel leads the assessment process during the Impact Assessment phase and holds public hearings to allow the public, the proponent, Indigenous groups, federal authorities, and other interested participants to provide their views and ask questions about the information on the record.

Please refer to the Agency website for further details about the differences between impact assessments by the Agency and those by review panels during the Impact Assessment phase.
