Process Overview

Step by step for the Impact Statement phase:

1

The Agency posts a Notice of Commencement on the Canadian Impact Assessment Registry (the Registry).

2

The proponent collects information and conducts studies, as required by the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines. This includes engaging Indigenous groups and communities in this information collection.

3

The Agency continues to engage the public and consult with Indigenous groups in order to prepare for the Impact Assessment phase.

4

The proponent develops an Impact Statement containing the information and studies outlined in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines and submits it to the Agency.

5

The Agency, with collaboration from federal authorities and other participants, reviews the Impact Statement to verify whether it contains all of the information and studies specified in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines that were required to conduct the impact assessment.

6

If the Impact Statement does not contain all of the information specified in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, the Agency will require the proponent to provide the missing information or revisions.

7

When the Agency is satisfied that the Impact Statement contains all of the information and studies required in the Tailored Impact Statement Guidelines, the Agency posts a notice indicating that the proponent has provided all the required information and studies on the Registry.
